BRAD HATFIELD AND BHMC WRITERS CREATE JAZZ SCORE FOR A SPECIAL MEMORIAL EPISODE OF “THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS” FOR KRISTOFF ST. JOHN (NEIL WINTERS)

Writer/arranger/producer/performer Brad Hatfield wrote multiple songs in the style of Blue Note jazz for an episode of The Young and the Restless that were featured throughout the episode. Securing top talent from across the US, parts were played and sung by folks in NM, MA, NY, IL, and NC during the pandemic. This music is now a collection that was released under the title A Life Well Lived

Amongst the many special moments were Nikki sitting down and playing along with “A Life Well Lived”, and an emotional show-stopping final song to the episode written by Brad Hatfield, Gaye Tolan Hatfield, and Jeff Meegan called “Grateful For It All*. This song was beautifully sung by Boston songstress Lydia Harrell.

The music caught the ear of CBS execs, and a playlist and credits for all the music in this episode were featured on the CBS website. The episode also contained several songs written previously by BHMC writers Jeff Meegan and Gaye Tolan Hatfield.

* 5/5/2022 Update: “Grateful For It All” was nominated for the 2022 Daytime Emmy Awards’ Outstanding Original Song!
